A defect in packaging has led to the recall of a drug item.
The item in question is an anti-diarrhea pill known as Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief. The recall was announced by the makers of the product, Johnson & Johnson. Around 54,000 packages fall within the purview of the recall, which is being taking place only at the wholesale level.
The reason for the announcement has to do with the items’ blister packaging, which might contain dents, tears, or a small pinhole. The issue was reportedly discovered during an internal review, according to the McNeil consumer health division of the company. The company has stated that they have made necessary adjustments so as to prevent the problem from taking shape in the future.
Consumers should be on the lookout for the aforementioned defect in the packaging. If the package is damaged, then the consumer might not get the full benefit of the capsule. However, should the pill inside be exposed because of some kind of tear, then patients shouldn’t ingest that pill at all.
Johnson & Johnson has stated that this recall is not associated with any reported adverse effects and that there is no looming safety concern.
I’m sorry as a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer to see a product meant to help people get recalled. People trust their medicine to give them relief, and I hope as a personal injury attorney in San Bernardino that issues like this can be avoided in the future so that people can take their medicine without having to worry about a safety risk.
