CPSC Recalls Magnetic Sketchboards Due to Choking Hazard

In a press statement, Battat Inc, in cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, announced the voluntary recall of their Toulouse-LapTrec magnetic sketchboards because the pens accompanying the sketchboards pose a choking hazard to children. This recall affects approximately 100,000 sketchboards. These products were distributed across North America and sold in Target and Barnes and Noble stores from March 2010 to March 2011. The firm and the CPSC have received 19 reports of the magnetic tip becoming detached from the pen, the source of the choking hazard. However, no injuries have been reported as of yet. Consumers are being urged to immediately remove the items from children and return them to the place of purchase for a free replacement unit.

As a San Jose personal injury lawyer, I’ve witnessed recalls similar to this before and understand the damaging effects these products can have on their victims. If you’ve been injured through the use of a dangerous or defective product, call a personal injury lawyer to learn more about the legal options open to you.
