In a news release, the Chairman of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Inez Tenenbaum, called upon everyone to inspect the batteries of their carbon monoxide detectors and smoke alarms to ensure the protection of their families from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning, which can result in death. In addition to inspecting the batteries, the CPSC is also asking that everyone check to make sure the alarm actually works properly. Carbon monoxide is an odorless and colorless gas and it is far more lethal than many other gases. The CPSC also recommends that people remain in their kitchens while cooking food to prevent avoidable fires.
As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I think it’s necessary to keep a close eye on the alerts and recommendations of the CPSC in order to aid in sharing information that might better protect the people of our community. If you’ve sustained an injury during an accident that you think was the result of another’s negligent actions, it may be in your best interests to contact a personal injury lawyer in your city.
