NYU-SCPS has new home in Greenwich Village
This is big news!
After 75 years, the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies will have its own, identifiable home on NYU’s campus, at 7 East 12th Street. The new facility — a 12-story building owned by NYU since 1992 and once Fairchild Publications’ headquarters — will unite the School’s several locations now spread out across the Washington Square area.
The school will now be permanently anchored in three Manhattan locales — in Greenwich Village, Downtown (at the Woolworth building), and Midtown (at 11 West 42nd Street). Classes will happen there, and in other NYU facilities.
After major renovations, the School will begin moving in early summer 2011. The lower floors will have new classrooms, student lounges, and conference rooms, with office space above. The 117,000 square-foot building will house the Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management; the Paul McGhee Division (NYU’s adult undergraduate program); the American Language Institute; continuing education programs in the arts, humanities, writing, and foreign languages; and the Dean’s, admissions, and financial aid offices.
